Bookkeeper
Island Health & Fitness is looking for an Evening Bookkeeper to join our growing team. The Bookkeeper is responsible for the accuracy and prompt entry of financial information in Island Health & Fitness Center’s management and accounting software. As necessary and appropriate, the Bookkeeper prepares and responds to member correspondence.
Schedule
Monday through Friday Evenings 5:00pm - 9:00pm
4-5 Hour Shifts
Weekends as needed
To fulfill the responsibilities of the Bookkeeper, it is necessary to:
1. Support Membership Services in processing member information.
2. Assist in the preparation of daily receipts for deposit.
3. Reconcile bank and general ledger accounts
4. Initiates and / or responds to member financial / billing inquiries.
5. Responsible for accounts payable processing, posting accruals if necessary, and maintaining vendor relations.
6. Maintains accurate financial information.
7. Audits membership financial accounts.
8. Notifies members of past due balances and draft returns.
9. Responsible for completing reports and member follow up for declines/needs new billing and collections after billing has been processed
10. Assist in the monthly billing for Corporate Membership accounts
11. Provides proof of documentation when credit card/bank draft disputes are presented.
12. Ensures that accurate and complete monthly reports for general ledger posting are prepared and generated promptly.
13. Provide budget and audit support.
14. Work to streamline existing processes and eliminate redundant or non-value added work.
15. Establish effective working relationships with other functional areas of Island Health & Fitness in order to reduce and eliminate member concerns and issues.
16. Assists in communicating and supporting Club policies to members.
17. Supports administrative work of the General Manager, Assistant General Manager/Fitness Director and Facilities Director
18. Fulfill Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities as assigned.
19. When circumstances warrant it, the Bookkeeper may be assigned to other duties as needed.
Reports To: Member Services & Accounting Director
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associates Degree or higher in Accounting, Business, or related field (required).
2. 2 years or more of documented experience in a customer service function and in a business office operation (desired).
3. Personal computer competency is required including familiarity with and use of Microsoft spreadsheet/excel, database and word-processing software, as well as QuickBooks.
4. CPR/1st Aid is required as part of MOD responsibilities within 2 months of hire date.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
