Assistant Director – Evergreen (Kalispell)

Flathead Childcare is seeking an experienced and capable Assistant Director for our Evergreen (Kalispell) location.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for someone who already has a strong background in childcare and can step into a leadership role with confidence.

- Experience working in a licensed childcare setting (required)
- Strong understanding of child development and curriculum planning
- Ability to create and support engaging, developmentally appropriate activities
- Someone who is resourceful, takes initiative, and can problem-solve independently
- Clear and professional communication with staff and families
- Ability to support a team, step into leadership when needed, and keep things running smoothly
This role requires someone who can figure things out, stay organized, and follow through without needing constant direction.
Responsibilities:
- Support daily operations, staffing, and scheduling
- Ensure compliance with state licensing and safety standards
- Support teachers with curriculum and classroom management
- Communicate with families and handle questions or concerns
- Help maintain records and oversee day-to-day organization
- Step into a leadership role when the Director is unavailable
Schedule:
This is a part-time position (15–25 hours per week), scheduled consistently Monday–Friday with the same shift each day. There is potential for this role to grow into full-time for the right candidate.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of childcare experience (required)
- Leadership experience strongly preferred
- CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
- Knowledge of Montana childcare licensing is a plus
