Join HYPER's Wildland Fire & Heavy Equipment Team
HYPER Professional Equipment Resource, Inc. is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Operators to support wildland fire response, forestry management, land clearing, and heavy civil construction projects throughout Northern California.
We're looking for skilled operators who are safety-focused, dependable, and ready to mobilize when called. If you have experience operating dozers, excavators, and other heavy equipment in demanding environments, we'd like to hear from you.
What You'll Do
As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will:
- Operate dozers, excavators, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform grading, excavation, trenching, land clearing, fireline construction, and site preparation.
- Support wildfire suppression, forestry, and emergency response operations.
- Complete daily equipment inspections (360° walk-around) and operator logs.
- Identify and report equipment maintenance or mechanical issues.
- Read grade stakes, site plans, and basic construction layouts.
- Work closely with transport drivers, supervisors, and field crews to meet project objectives.
- Follow all company, Cal Fire, OSHA, and Cal/OSHA safety requirements.
Qualifications
We're looking for candidates who have:
- 3–5 years of heavy equipment operating experience.
- Experience operating dozers and excavators.
- Forestry, wildfire, or emergency response experience preferred.
- Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus but not required).
- Current Cal Fire Fireline Safety and OSHA certifications, or the ability to obtain them.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
- Knowledge of excavation safety, trench protection systems, underground utility awareness, and jobsite hazard mitigation.
Work Environment
This position requires working in demanding outdoor environments throughout Northern California, including:
- Active wildfire incidents
- Forestry operations
- Construction projects
- Rugged terrain
- Variable weather conditions
- Long shifts and extended deployments
- On-call emergency mobilizations during fire season
Applicants must be physically capable of working outdoors and adapting to changing field conditions.
