Schumacher Veterinary Clinic is looking for a compassionate and motivated Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced veterinary environment while providing excellent patient care. Full time position working Monday through Friday 7am -5 pm. 3 days per month on-call after hours- will include one weekend.
Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians with examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms and surgical areas
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Perform laboratory tests and analyze results
- Take x-rays
- Clean and sterilize equipment and instruments
- Provide post-operative care to animals
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care and nutrition
- Maintain accurate records of patient information
Skills:
- Proficient in aseptic technique for maintaining a sterile environment
- Knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy preferred
- Strong pet care skills, including feeding, grooming, and administering medications
- Ability to handle animals safely and with compassion
- Familiarity with animal catheterization procedures preferred
- Understanding of veterinary terminology and medical procedures
- Skill in animal restraint techniques
