PAY TBD DOE. Preferred: Prior experience in a pipe yard to plan and coordinate production operations. Will develop and manage schedules to ensure efficient workflow.
Coordinate manufacturing workflows, manage raw material inventory (such as steel or PVC), and optimizes machine uptime. Balance customer demand with plant capacity to ensure on-time delivery of products, minimizing downtime and reducing operational costs.
Core Responsibilities
- Production Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed daily, weekly, and long-term production schedules using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Master Production Scheduling (MPS) platforms.
- Workflow Optimization: Sequence production runs to minimize changeover times between different pipe diameters, lengths, and material specifications.
- Inventory Control: Monitor raw material levels (resins, steel coils, additives) and finished goods to prevent stockouts or overstocking, ensuring accuracy through regular audits.
- Resource Allocation: Ensure adequate manpower, tooling, and equipment are available to meet production targets.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, project managers, quality control, and plant floor supervisors to resolve bottlenecks, manage material delays, and adjust schedules for custom or rush orders.
- Risk Management: Identify risks in production flow or material availability early and coordinate corrective actions to avoid delayed shipments.
- Reporting: Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) like schedule adherence, equipment downtime, and throughput, generating reports for plant management
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience in production scheduling, inventory control, or manufacturing operations (heavy manufacturing or pipe production environments highly preferred).
- Technical Skills:
- High proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JDE).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and modeling.
- Familiarity with scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles (5S, Kaizen, Kanban, JIT) and extrusion or casting processes.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
