Young Judaea Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp, located in Red Hook, is a Hebrew dual-language camp for children entering Pre-K through 5th grade. Sprout Brooklyn is a place where children from a wide spectrum of backgrounds join together to create a joyful, diverse community built on Jewish values, a connection to Israel and the Hebrew language. No previous Hebrew experience is necessary to be part of the Sprout Brooklyn community.
Sprout Brooklyn values staff that are positive and flexible team players who are excited to spend the summer with young campers and staff. The ideal candidate is excited about camp life and feels comfortable wearing multiple hats and will never say that a task “isn’t their job”.
We are currently looking for energetic, fun-loving and responsible Bus counselors. Our counselors are the heart of Camp. You must be 16 or older to work at Sprout Brooklyn. Bus counselors ride the bus with our campers to and from camp each day. Bus counselors help us ensure that Sprout Brooklyn buses are both safe and fun by communicating with families, checking attendance, and playing games or singing songs during the bus ride. Below are the locations where we are seeking bus counselors. If you live near any of these places or would like to meet a camp bus there each day, this could be the right role for you!
- Manhattan
- Williamsburg/Greenpoint
Responsibilities:
- Arrive on time to meet the bus at your designated stop each morning
- Inspect the bus for safety issues and communicate with camp if you find any
- Welcome campers on to the bus at each stop with a smiling face
- Ensure campers are safely buckled.
- Play games, sing songs, and engage in other ways to make the bus ride entertaining while maintaining a screen free environment
- Support campers emotionally on their commute to and from camp
- Check attendance in the afternoons on the way home to ensure all campers are on the correct bus
- Communicate with parents via whatsapp groups and location sharing about the timing of the bus
- Communicate with camp staff about any issues that arise
- Additional opportunities may be available to work as a general counselor during the day
- Bus hours are typically from 7:00-9:00 am and 4:00-5:45 pm Monday-Friday
- General counselor add on hours are 9:00-4:00 (with the addition of the bus hours above).
