Location: Beautiful Savior Child Development Center
Job Overview:
The Assistant Teacher in a childcare facility plays a vital role in supporting the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children. This position involves working with young children (ages 0-5) to foster their emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development. The Assistant Teacher will help implement the curriculum, assist with daily classroom activities, and maintain a positive and welcoming environment for both children and their families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Classroom Support:
- Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily activities and lesson plans that align with developmental milestones.
- Help supervise and engage children in both structured and free play activities.
- Support children’s emotional and social development by encouraging positive behaviors and resolving conflicts.
- Always ensure the safety and well-being of children.
- Assist in preparing materials for lessons and activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support for children who need additional help or attention.
- Child Observation and Assessment:
- Observe children’s progress and development and report any concerns or milestones to the Lead Teacher.
- Assist in documenting children's activities, behaviors, and milestones in daily reports or progress notes.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Maintain open and positive communication with parents regarding their child's development, activities, and any concerns.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and parents to create a harmonious and effective learning environment.
- Participate in team meetings to discuss curriculum planning, child development, and facility updates.
- Health and Safety:
- Help enforce health and safety protocols, including proper hygiene, mealtimes, nap times, and safety drills.
- Assist with meal and snack time, ensuring children are eating healthy and following any dietary restrictions.
- Support in keeping the classroom clean, organized, and prepared for daily activities.
- Professional Development:
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities as required by state licensing regulations and facility policies.
- Stay informed of current best practices in early childhood education.
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field preferred
- Experience working with young children in a childcare or educational setting (preferred).
- Understanding of child development principles and early childhood education.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and parents.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact effectively with children, parents, and staff.
- Patient, caring, and compassionate attitude.
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift to 40 pounds to assist with children’s needs.
- Ability to kneel, squat, or sit on the floor to engage with children at their level.
