Schedule: Tues - Sat 7am - 4pm
The Shipping & Receiving Attendant I is responsible for supporting the accurate and efficient movement of incoming and outgoing egg shipments. This position helps ensure product quality, accurate inventory, proper storage, and timely order fulfillment.
The role involves handling products throughout the shipping and receiving process, including unloading, inspecting, labeling, storing, palletizing, scanning, loading, and dispatching shipments. All products must be handled in accordance with company procedures, food safety regulations, and quality and safety standards.
This is an entry-level position that works under direct supervision while learning established shipping, receiving, and palletizing procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Review shipping and receiving paperwork before unloading and verify that all items and quantities match the documentation.
- Inspect incoming products for damage and immediately report any issues to a supervisor.
- Store incoming products in the correct designated locations.
- Label incoming products with the appropriate Julian date or date received.
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary coolers, docks, trucks, and warehouse areas.
- Securely wrap all pallets and carts before loading.
- Work with a supervisor to plan and organize truck loads.
- Inspect trucks before loading to ensure they are clean, odor-free, and maintained at the required temperature.
- Confirm that refrigeration units are operating properly before loading temperature-sensitive products.
- Secure dock plates before loading and follow all required dock safety procedures.
- Review invoices and pick tickets to confirm that the correct products are placed on each pallet.
- Follow first-in, first-out inventory rotation procedures when building pallets.
- Record Julian dates on load sheets and invoices.
- Initial and complete all required pick tickets and shipping documentation.
- Complete pre-operational inspections of electric pallet jacks before use.
- Operate electric pallet jacks safely and maintain awareness of surrounding employees, equipment, and products.
- Handle all products carefully and report any product damage to a supervisor.
- Prevent damaged products from being shipped.
- Secure truck loads using load bars and straps.
- Ensure all products are completely and accurately scanned before loading.
- Make sure trucks are locked when moved away from the loading dock.
- Remain flexible as priorities and workload requirements change throughout the shift.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude.
- Assist in other departments or work areas as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, or a related environment preferred.
- Experience operating an electric pallet jack safely.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Familiarity with inventory systems, warehouse management systems, and RF scanners preferred.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to comply with food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.

Work Environment
This position is based in a food-processing and warehouse environment. Employees may be exposed to:
- Cooler temperatures ranging from approximately 38°F to 44°F.
- High noise levels from processing equipment and machinery.
- Dust, dirt, and other conditions associated with agricultural and warehouse operations.
- Moving equipment, including pallet jacks, trucks, carts, and forklifts.
- Wet or slippery surfaces.
- Changing temperatures between warehouse, dock, cooler, and outdoor areas.
Employees are expected to follow all required safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
