Duties
- Wash, sanitize, and organize dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment to uphold hygiene standards.
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as slicing ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques.
- Support the culinary team by preparing ingredients according to recipes and menu plans while adhering to food safety protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen area by cleaning work surfaces, floors, and storage areas regularly.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including dishwashers, slicers, mixers, and other small appliances.
- Follow food handling procedures meticulously to ensure compliance with safety standards in production and food safety management.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and smooth service flow during busy hours.
Skills
- Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable.
- Strong background in food service or restaurant environments with knowledge of food industry standards.
- Proficiency in food preparation techniques including slicing, chopping, and portioning ingredients accurately.
- Excellent communication skills for effective coordination with kitchen staff and team members.
- Knowledge of safety standards in food production and proper food handling practices.
- Familiarity with menu planning principles and recipe adherence to maintain consistency in meal quality.
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely while maintaining high cleanliness standards.
- Experience in catering or large-scale meal preparation is a plus.
