Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Darien, CT for a Banquet Cook. The Banquet Cook will be responsible for supporting the preparation, production, and execution of food for private events, member functions, club events, golf outings, weddings, holiday parties, and other banquet operations.
This role requires a cook who is organized, dependable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Banquet Cook will work closely with the Banquet Chef, Sous Chefs, and culinary team to ensure all food is prepared according to club standards, recipes, timelines, and event specifications.
Daily responsibilities include food preparation, cooking proteins, vegetables, starches, hors d’oeuvres, buffet items, plated components, and other banquet menu items. The Banquet Cook will also assist with event setup, plating, buffet execution, breakdown, sanitation, and general kitchen organization.
The ideal candidate takes pride in quality, consistency, cleanliness, and teamwork, and understands the importance of timing and presentation in a private club banquet setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and execute food for banquets, private events, member functions, and club events
- Assist with production of plated meals, buffets, hors d’oeuvres, stations, and family-style service
- Prepare proteins, vegetables, starches, sauces, soups, salads, and other assigned menu items
- Follow recipes, prep lists, banquet event orders, and club standards
- Support event timelines, plating, buffet setup, and service execution
- Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation across all banquet food production
- Communicate with chefs and team members regarding prep needs, event details, and service timing
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation
- Follow proper food handling, storage, labeling, and FIFO procedures
- Assist with receiving, stocking, breakdown, and kitchen organization as needed
- Work collaboratively with the culinary and service teams to ensure successful event execution
Qualifications
- Prior banquet, prep, line cook, or high-volume kitchen experience preferred
- Strong basic cooking skills and understanding of food preparation techniques
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet event timelines
- Basic knife skills and knowledge of kitchen equipment
- Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and organization
- Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, and banquet event orders
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper storage procedures
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Culinary training or certification is a plus, but not required
