GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Student Success Navigator position is funded by a Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) Multilingual Contract. This contract supports multilingual early childhood educators in a higher education pathway aligned with EEC's professional credential. Cape Cod Community College offers the 16-credit ECE Foundational Certificate Program in Brazilian Portuguese, combined with English language learning support, to help multilingual students become bilingual and biliterate in English.
The Student Success Navigator is a professional staff role responsible for guiding Brazilian Portuguese-speaking students through every stage of their college experience - from recruitment and enrollment through program completion. This position serves as the primary student advocate and point of contact for students navigating the ECE Foundational Certificate Program. The Student Success Navigator reports to the Dean of Health Sciences and Professional Studies. This position will work collaboratively with the full multilingual contract team - including the bilingual ECE adjunct faculty, and ESOL adjunct faculty - as well as with EEC Career Pathways grant staff, to ensure both teams remain current with EEC's credentialing work, maintain uniform knowledge of the ECE program, and provide crossover assistance to students as needed.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Student Recruitment and Outreach
1. Conduct outreach activities in the Brazilian Portuguese-speaking community to recruit prospective ECE students into the Foundational Certificate Program.
2. Represent the program at community events, information sessions, and partner organization meetings to raise awareness of the ECE pathway.
3. Communicate program information in both English and Brazilian Portuguese, including translating outreach materials as needed.
Enrollment and Onboarding
1. Facilitate information sessions in Brazilian Portuguese to inform prospective students about the ECE Foundational Certificate Program and the supports available to them.
2. Assist students with college enrollment processes, including application, registration, financial aid access, and completion of onboarding requirements.
3. Guide students through educational technology onboarding, including setting up and navigating Microsoft Authenticator, the college portal, Zoom, Moodle email, and other required platforms, serving as a bridge for students who may encounter barriers accessing college systems.
Direct Student Support and Navigation
1. Serve as a dedicated student advocate, ensuring students have access to the academic, financial, and personal resources they need to succeed throughout the program.
2. Facilitate or connect students to academic orientation, advising services, and required student engagement activities such as program information sessions and workshops.
3. Attend ECE bilingual classes and integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize a student's potential for academic progress.
4. Provide follow-up to ensure students are accessing available services and progressing toward their educational goals.
5. Translate program materials, communications, and student-facing resources into Brazilian Portuguese as needed to support student comprehension and engagement.
Coordination and Collaboration
1. Work collaboratively with the multilingual contract team - including the Portuguese Course Coordinator/Supplemental Instructor, bilingual ECE adjunct faculty, and ESOL adjunct faculty - as well as with EEC Career Pathways grant staff and college departments, to ensure cohesive and effective student support services.
2. Participate in EEC-led meetings as required.
Workplan and Data Management
1. Assist with the management of the contract workplan and ensure deliverables are tracked and met in accordance with EEC contract requirements.
2. Perform administrative tasks associated with tracking and reporting student participation and progress using agreed-upon data reporting systems.
3. Assist with periodic data reports to EEC as required under the multilingual contract.
4. Communicate regularly with the Dean of Health Sciences and Professional Studies following a regular check-in schedule.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate of Science degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
2. Bilingual proficiency in English and Brazilian Portuguese (spoken and written) is required. Candidates must be able to communicate fluently with students, translate materials, and conduct information sessions in Brazilian Portuguese.
3. Experience in student services, academic advising, vocational counseling, or a related student support role.
4. Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with multilingual and diverse populations and create a welcoming, inclusive environment.
5. Ability to assist students with problem-solving and proactively support them in reaching their educational goals.
6. Demonstrated proficiency with informational technology, including the ability to navigate and support students in using systems such as Microsoft Authenticator, college portals, Zoom, Moodle email, and educational platforms. Ability to guide students with limited technology experience through digital onboarding.
7. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a workplan, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and adhere to reporting deadlines.
8. Accuracy and attention to detail.
9. Available to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings.
10. Ability to work both independently and as a collaborative team member.
11. Ability to adhere to the College's strict confidentiality guidelines and FERPA regulations.
12. Valid Massachusetts Driver's license and ability to travel within the Massachusetts region.
13. Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
2. Knowledge of or experience in early childhood education or workforce development.
3. Experience working with multilingual or immigrant communities in an educational setting.
4. Experience working in higher education, including the community college setting.
5. Demonstrated familiarity with CCCC student resources.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: Anticipated starting (Interval 1) rate of $36.55 per hour for 20 hours per week (year-round). Part-time, benefited, grant funded MCCC Unit Position.
