Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive inspections of vehicles in accordance with state regulations, including safety, emissions, and mechanical standards
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and automotive repair equipment to assess vehicle condition and identify necessary repairs or adjustments
- Document inspection findings accurately and provide clear reports to vehicle owners or service advisors
- Assist in vehicle maintenance tasks such as auto body repairs, auto restoration projects, or minor mechanical repairs when needed
- Operate heavy lifting equipment safely to facilitate inspection of various vehicle components
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and compliance status for each vehicle inspected
- Stay updated on current state inspection laws, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure ongoing compliance
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose automotive issues effectively
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and automotive service equipment
- Experience with vehicle maintenance, auto body repair, or auto restoration projects
- Knowledge of automotive repair procedures and safety standards
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently during inspections or repairs
- Excellent attention to detail with strong documentation skills
- Mechanic experience or prior work as an automotive technician is highly desirable
