Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in a fast-paced environment, ensuring their comfort and well-being. As a Nursing Assistant, you will work closely with nursing staff in a teaching hospital setting, assisting with various patient care tasks while adhering to the highest standards of medical practice.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
- Monitor and record vital signs, reporting any changes to the nursing staff.
- Administer medications as directed by registered nurses or physicians.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain a clean and safe environment for patients.
- Support patients in memory care settings, providing emotional support and companionship.
- Assist in the management of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as needed.
- Participate in patient education and teaching under the guidance of nursing staff.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members in a Level I Trauma Center to deliver comprehensive care.
- Perform phlebotomy tasks when required, ensuring proper techniques are followed.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems such as Epic.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Nursing Assistant training program is mandatory.
- Previous experience in medical-surgical or critical care settings is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques and medication administration protocols.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting and moving patients as necessary.
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant is mandatory.
