Our client, a custom builder of medical vehicles and event transportation is seeking multiple Metalworking Specialists/Welders due to a completely new business line. This client serves a large medical carrier and has created a new state of the art facility to efficiently refurbish and create new, patented Medical Trailers and Medical Units. This involves complete custom builds – nothing “off the shelf” – and all aspects of each unit is built in house in New Berlin, WI. This is truly a “cool” place to work – literally, as the 85Ksq.ft. facility is fully climate controlled – AND incorporates refurbished units to train staff and NEW custom builds with high-tech features within the medical realm. This role pays $27-$30 per hour based on experience and comes with a full benefit plan. Hours are standard at 6am -2:30pm with flexibility and ability for optional overtime.
The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Metalworking/Welding – preferably in MIG/WireSteel/WireAluminum – and the ability to work in a team setting. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential. The incumbent of this role will:
- Perform metalworking, fabrication, and pipefitting on a variety of trailers and vehicles.
- Perform cut, clean and setup of welding jobs.
- Perform welding to comply with both safety and structural integrity of trailers and automotive builds.
- Perform copper soldering/brazing.
- Work in project teams as a subject matter expert in metalworking/welding around custom refurbishing work on medical trailers
- Fabricate and assemble framework and build items, large and small, including copper, steel and aluminum structures
- Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
- Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
- Lay out floorings, roofing or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible
- Inspect and conduct repairs or maintenance
- Use creativity and teamwork to tackle a variety of custom projects using strong carpentry/fabrication skills.
Qualifications
- 3+ years experience “building stuff” in the fabrication/metalworking/welding trade.
- 1+ years experience in MIG welding
- Hands-on experience in working with materials including, steel, sheet metal, copper, lead and aluminum.
- Understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
- Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)
- Ability to read technical documents and drawings
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, manuals, and work with computers, machines and motion-control robots.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with teams.
Note on Experience Levels
- We seek various levels of experience and will train candidates that have a base of skills in welding (1-2 years).
- The target is candidates that have 3+ years experience and can build almost anything using metalworking and welding techniques.
- The goal is to create a career path for younger workers to grow both skill and experience, obtain mid-level workers to use their skill/expertise and learn the business and become leaders and senior and expert skill sets/levels to become subject matter experts in the various needs of shop construction.
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
