JOB DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the Special Education Director, the Special Education Elementary Assistant Director will oversee the preschool and elementary services of inclusion, tuition-based, Title I, and Special education classes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Serves as the LEA representative for preschool students on Individualized Educational Plans.

Coordinates, implements, monitors, and supports the implementation of preschool services of inclusion, tuition, Title 1, and Special education classes.

Responsible for student recruitment and enrollment of preschool-age students in the Special Education Preschool services to maximize each program-type funding/revenue.

Consults and collaborates with site administrators, supervisors and other department directors in coordinating preschool offerings and where they are offered.

Communicates with parents/guardians regarding the growth and development of their preschool-age students with disabilities.

Monitors the Special Education Preschool services budgets.

Coordinates with other agencies in grant writing and reporting.

Maintains and promptly submits all records, documents, and reports required by USBE and the federal government (IDEIA).

Consults and collaborates with site administrators regarding teachers and ongoing alignment development of instructional strategies, staff development opportunities, and instructional materials based on USBE Special Education guidelines.

Engages in vertical alignment and collaborates with the district's elementary standards, instruction, and assessments.

Models effective techniques for delivering administrative support to site staff (teachers and classified staff) in designing and providing developmentally appropriate learning opportunities.

Develops and monitors Special Education elementary procedures regarding student and staff safety, discipline, and conduct.

Supervises, evaluates and schedules the work of preschool teachers and support staff.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Incumbent must be fingerprinted and clear a criminal background check

Master's Degree required
-
Requires a valid Professional Educator License for the State of Utah (Appropriate administrator/supervisor license)

A Professional Educator License
-
Administrator experience is required
-
Building level administration experience (preferred)
-
Special Education/ Early Childhood services experience (preferred)

Must be skilled in working with diverse groups, building consensus, and maintaining focus on student needs

Requires the ability to communicate orally and in written form

Must be able to take initiative, work independently, be flexible, and be a collaborative team player

Must demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and respect for others
