This position advances the university vision, mission, and strategic plan in relation to academic affairs activities leadership, and support for academic policy and procedure development and implementation for the traditional undergraduate program (College of Arts & Sciences), provides direction and oversight for segments of the academic area, and provides support for the Provost in all academic areas.
Qualifications:

- Terminal degree in an appropriate discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years as a Department Chair or equivalent academic leadership
- Minimum of 5 years fulltime college level teaching experience
- Appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor
- Skilled at facilitating communication across different university areas
- Demonstrated team building and team leadership ability
- Budget experience within higher education context
- Experience in college/university/department/program accreditation and assessment

Essential Functions:

- Champion the objectives and interests for the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) while maintaining a global institutional perspective.
- Provide supervision of department chairs in CAS
- Actively and persistently foster interdisciplinary cooperation/collaboration across the college and across the University.
- Provide leadership to search and hire full time faculty and to provide a common orientation for adjunct faculty.
- Oversee and ensure equitable distribution of faculty loads within CAS.
- Oversee departmental program review in traditional undergraduate programs
- Develop and maintain academic policies for the traditional undergraduate program
- Provide Leadership of General Education Committee as ex officio member
- Oversee curriculum development, review, revisions for the traditional undergraduate program
- Oversee new faculty onboarding for TUG programs.
- Serve as an active member on Provost Council
- Provide other program oversight and considerations as determined by mutual agreement with Provost
- Assist in providing leadership in meeting goals of university strategic plan
- Oversee scheduling and promotion of Winter term courses
- Implement and administer policies and regulations affecting students, including oversight of student requests, complaints, and grievances in academic unit
- Provide direction and oversight in CAS faculty evaluations
- Provide direct support for the Provost in the administration of all academic programs
- Assist Provost in development of academic majors and prioritization
- Represent the Office of the Provost to external constituents in the provost’s absence
- Teach 1-2 courses per academic year in the dean’s disciplinary area
