Building Engineer - Commercial High Rise Building
Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Building Maintenance Technician to ensure the optimal operation, safety, and integrity of our high-rise office building. You will play a critical role in ensuring a safe, efficient, and reliable operation. This position is responsible for maintaining all building systems, responding to tenant service requests, overseeing interior and exterior facility conditions, and supporting tenant improvement (TI) projects from planning through completion. The ideal candidate is proactive, solutions‑oriented, and committed to delivering an exceptional tenant experience.
Duties
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on the interior and exterior of our commercial building including to diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and general building systems.
- Ability to plan, coordinate and oversee tenant improvements and office build outs.
- Respond promptly and professionally to tenant service tickets, ensuring timely resolution and clear communication.
- Conduct electrical work
- Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and elevator repair and maintenance
- Maintain compliance with safety protocols related to HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/Refrigeration), welding, and other specialized trades.
- Analyze system performance data to identify potential improvements or necessary repairs proactively.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment or upgrades in the building.
- Ensure all maintenance activities meet industry standards for safety and quality while maintaining documentation for audits or inspections.
- Support the operation and upkeep of elevators, fire/life safety systems, and emergency equipment.
- Identify potential issues early and recommend corrective actions to management.
- Oversee exterior conditions such as landscaping, parking structures, and roof systems.
- Coordinate with vendors for specialized maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Conduct site walks, monitor contractor performance, and ensure work complies with building standards and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with property management, contractors, and tenants to support smooth project execution.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in commercial building engineering, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
- Strong hands-on experience with HVAC, electrical (low voltage/high voltage), plumbing, mechanical systems and dry wall.
- Familiarity with CMMS software for maintenance tracking and management.
- Knowledge of industrial electrician practices along with analysis skills for diagnosing complex system issues.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills in English for clear documentation and collaboration with team members.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, access rooftops, and work in mechanical spaces.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
