- Thursday – Sunday
- Approximately 34 hours per week (Full-Time Position)
- Availability for all holidays and community work events is required.

Summary
Under general supervision, prepares food items of sufficient quality and quantity for the dining room while handling food in accordance with sanitary standards and recognized food preparation practices.
Essential Functions
- Prepare and serve meals that are properly cooked, flavorful, attractive, and nutritious within established timeframes while following standardized recipes.
- Properly operate, clean, and maintain all equipment necessary to perform job duties.
- Maintain quality control by monitoring food temperatures, thawing procedures, dating and labeling stored foods, and ensuring refrigerated and frozen foods are kept at proper temperatures.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation throughout all kitchen work areas while following proper food handling, transportation, and storage procedures.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and safe personal appearance, including appropriate work attire.
- Perform all work safely while following facility safety programs and infection control policies.
- Have a current ServSafe Manager Certificate or be willing to obtain one within four weeks of hiring.
- Prepare baked goods, including cookies, muffins, breads, and other baked items as needed.
Non-Essential Functions
- Interact professionally and courteously with residents and staff to provide quality service.
- Deliver excellent customer service to residents, guests, and coworkers.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Applicants must be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of standard methods, materials, procedures, and regulations related to food preparation and food service.
- Understand the potential health hazards associated with food preparation.
- Demonstrate knowledge of food values.
- Understand basic food service policies, procedures, and techniques.
- Safely operate, handle, and clean a variety of kitchen equipment, tools, and appliances.
- Perform medium physical work requiring frequent bending, reaching, stretching, grasping, lifting, and prolonged standing.
- Exercise independent judgment in routine situations, including determining menu preparation needs while following facility safety procedures.
- Read, write, and speak English proficiently.
- Read and follow menus, recipe books, cookbooks, and manuals.
- Communicate effectively with residents, supervisors, and coworkers.
Required Certifications
Applicants must possess BOTH of the following prior to employment:
- Current Food Handler's Permit
- Current ServSafe Manager Certificate (If you do not have this must be willing to obtain within 4 weeks of hire)
Please note: A standard ServSafe Food Handler or Food Protection certificate does not meet this requirement.
