The Cook is responsible for assisting the Lead Cook in food preparation, serving meals and snacks to the children/staff at the site, maintaining all kitchen duties in the absence of the Lead Cook, and assisting the Lead Cook in maintaining compliance, at the site, with all CACFP and DHS guidelines.
(Include and are not limited to the following assignment.)

Assists the Lead Cook in the following daily duties: o Planning weekly menus in accordance with nutritional guidelines and food restrictions.

Preparation, cooking, and delivery of planned meals/snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines and food restrictions. oPreparation, cooking, and delivery of planned meals/snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines and food restrictions.

Maintain hygiene and safety of kitchen in accordance with all state licensing/CACFP requirements. oAssist in implementation of Nutritional Activities.

Complete Daily Attendance Sheets in the absence of the cook.

Learn all components of daily kitchen duties.
Maintain all daily kitchen duties in the absence of the cook.
Attend CACFP trainings as needed.
Assist Lead Cook and CACFP Coordinator in implementing yearly CACFP training for staff and new hires.
Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
All other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or General Education degree (GED) required.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Able to multi-task and stay focused.
(Preferable) At least 6-12 months of experience in food service; preferably in child care or institutional setting.
Basic math skills for measuring and portioning.
Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or obtain upon hire and every 2 years after.
Must Pass OSBI fingerprint background check upon hire.
Ability to lift 30 lbs.
Stand for long periods of time.
Move as position requires.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Works in conjunction with Lead Cook and CACFP Coordinator.
Reports to Site Manager and Child Care Director.
Understands and follows all policies and procedures, emergency, and safety protocols.
