We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on, and proactive Part-Time Operations Manager to help lead the daily operations and growth of our Indian Food Truck and Outdoor Food Garden startup in Sunnyvale, CA.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to help build a growing food concept from the ground up. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable wearing multiple hats, and capable of balancing daily operations with team management, purchasing, customer experience, marketing, social media, and business growth.
As a key member of the startup, you will work closely with ownership to improve operational efficiency, build reliable processes, grow local awareness, and create an exceptional customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily operations of the food truck and outdoor food garden
- Maintain high standards of customer service, cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness
- Recruit, interview, onboard, train, schedule, and coordinate team members
- Monitor employee attendance, shift coverage, productivity, and performance
- Oversee inventory, purchasing, procurement, and vendor relationships
- Order ingredients, packaging, beverages, cleaning supplies, and other operational items
- Monitor inventory usage, food waste, labor efficiency, and operating costs
- Review daily and weekly sales performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability
- Use Excel or similar tools to track sales trends, expenses, inventory, and key operating metrics
- Help develop and maintain operating checklists, workflows, and basic SOPs
- Coordinate menu updates, pricing changes, promotions, and seasonal specials
- Manage and maintain online ordering and business platforms, including Toast, DoorDash, and Google Business Profile
- Monitor customer reviews, feedback, and recurring service issues
- Take engaging smartphone photos and short videos of food, preparation, behind-the-scenes activity, and the customer experience
- Create and post regular content for Instagram Reels, TikTok, and other social media platforms
- Help grow local awareness through digital marketing, community engagement, partnerships, and promotions
- Explore new revenue opportunities, catering, corporate orders, private events, and local partnerships
- Coordinate weekend activities, promotions, and future special events
- Work closely with ownership to identify operational challenges and implement practical improvements
- Support other startup and business-management activities as needed
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous management, supervisory, or operations experience in food service, restaurants, cafés, food trucks, hospitality, retail, or another fast-paced customer-facing business
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Experience hiring, scheduling, coordinating, or supervising team members
- Comfortable managing inventory, purchasing, suppliers, and vendor relationships
- Basic understanding of sales performance, expenses, food costs, labor costs, and profitability
- Comfortable using Excel or similar tools for basic operational tracking and analysis
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Comfortable taking smartphone photos and short-form videos
- Familiarity with Instagram Reels, TikTok, and local business social media
- Ability to identify problems and proactively recommend solutions
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Indian food, Indian restaurant operations, or South Asian customer preferences is a plus, but not required
- Experience with Toast POS, DoorDash, Google Business Profile, or other restaurant technology platforms is a plus
- Experience with local marketing, catering sales, corporate orders, or community partnerships is a plus
- Experience helping grow a startup or early-stage business is highly valued
