The Church Sexton is responsible for the general maintenance, cleanliness, and upkeep of church buildings and grounds. This role ensures our campuses are prepared for Sunday services, weekly ministry activities, and special events, while also handling routine repairs and coordinating with vendors as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily/weekly cleaning of sanctuaries, classrooms, offices, restrooms, kitchen, and common areas
- Set up and break down chairs, tables, and equipment for services, meetings, and events
- Conduct routine building checks and minor repairs (light fixtures, plumbing fixes, door hardware, etc.)
- Maintain grounds, including sidewalks, entryways, and outdoor areas (trash removal, snow/ice management, light landscaping)
- Monitor and restock cleaning and restroom supplies
- Ensure HVAC, lighting, and security systems are properly operating; report issues promptly
- Open and secure the building before/after services and scheduled events
- Coordinate with outside contractors/vendors for larger repairs as directed
- Maintain compliance with safety and cleanliness standards
- Support setup/breakdown for special events (weddings, funerals, conferences, VBS, etc.)
- Perform other duties as assigned by church leadership
Pay: Up to $17.50 per hour
