Position Schedule
Bee-Safe Security is hiring professional, dependable part-time Security Officers to provide security coverage during weekend church Masses and other scheduled parish events.
Regular weekend assignments may include:
- Saturdays 1600-1800 hrs (4pm-6pm)
- Sunday 0730-1330 hrs (7:30am-1:30pm)
- Holy days, holiday services, funerals, weddings, festivals, and other special events
- Additional evening or weekend coverage as needed
Hours may vary according to the church’s service and event schedule. Applicants must have reliable weekend availability as well as their own reliable transportation to and from jobsite.
About the Position
This is not a “stand around” security position.
The Security Officer will provide a visible, professional, and approachable security presence while helping maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for parishioners, clergy, employees, volunteers, families, children, visitors, and members of the public.
This position requires maturity, sound judgment, situational awareness, strong communication skills, physical capability, and the ability to respond appropriately during emergencies or unexpected situations.
Church security requires more than simply being present. It requires prevention, observation, professionalism, discretion, trust, and the ability to protect a faith community without unnecessarily disrupting the worship environment.
The successful candidate must represent Bee-Safe and the client with discipline, confidence, respect, and professionalism throughout every assignment.
Primary Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Providing a visible and professional security presence before, during, and after church services and events
- Monitoring entrances, exits, gathering areas, hallways, parking areas, and exterior portions of the property
- Conducting interior and exterior patrols
- Observing individuals, vehicles, packages, and activity for potential safety or security concerns
- Assisting with parking, traffic, pedestrian movement, and visitor flow
- Professionally interacting with parishioners, clergy, employees, volunteers, families, children, visitors, and members of the public
- Identifying and reporting suspicious activity, safety hazards, policy violations, or security risks
- Responding to disturbances, emergencies, medical situations, threats, and other safety concerns
- Assisting with emergency evacuations, lockdowns, shelter procedures, or other protective actions when necessary
- Coordinating with church leadership, Bee-Safe supervisors, emergency medical personnel, fire departments, and law enforcement when appropriate
- Writing clear, accurate, objective, and timely incident and activity reports
- Following Bee-Safe policies, client procedures, site post orders, and lawful supervisory directions
- Protecting confidential or sensitive information obtained during an assignment
- Attending required training and maintaining all required licenses and certifications
- Supporting a safe, respectful, controlled, and welcoming worship environment
Physical Requirements
Applicants must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
- Standing for extended periods
- Walking for extended periods
- Walking or running up and down multiple flights of stairs
- Frequently entering and exiting buildings
- Working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Remaining alert throughout the entire assignment
- Responding quickly during urgent or emergency situations
- Lifting up to 50 pounds
- Assisting with the emergency movement of a person weighing up to 150 pounds
- Communicating clearly in person, by telephone, and over a radio
- Maintaining the physical ability to perform assigned protective duties safely
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Have reliable transportation
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal, customer-service, and conflict-resolution skills
- Be dependable, punctual, attentive, and professionally presented
- Be available for weekend church services and scheduled special events
- Be able to pass all required criminal background checks
- Be able to pass required drug screening
- Meet all applicable licensing, client-placement, and legal eligibility requirements
- Be legally eligible to possess and carry a firearm when required by the assignment
- Be willing and able to travel for required training
- Successfully complete all Bee-Safe, client, state, and assignment-specific training
- Maintain satisfactory attendance, performance, conduct, and training standards
Prior security, law enforcement, military, corrections, emergency response, church security, or public-safety experience is preferred but is not required for every assignment.
Background and Eligibility Requirements
Due to the sensitive nature of church security assignments, applicants must satisfy Bee-Safe, client, licensing, insurance, and legal eligibility requirements.
Disqualifying history may include, but is not limited to:
- Felony convictions
- Domestic violence convictions
- Disqualifying weapons-related offenses
- Disqualifying assaultive or violent offenses
- Theft, dishonesty, fraud, or trust-related offenses
- Resisting arrest, obstruction, or similar offenses
- Any legal restriction prohibiting the possession or carrying of a firearm
- Any criminal, employment, licensing, or conduct history that creates an unacceptable safety, reliability, trust, insurance, or client-placement concern
Final eligibility and placement decisions will be made in accordance with applicable law, licensing requirements, assignment duties, client requirements, insurance requirements, and Bee-Safe standards.
Training Requirements
This position requires initial and ongoing training. Training requirements may be quarterly, semiannual, annual, or assignment-specific.
Required training may include:
- Security officer training
- Firearms qualification and training, when applicable
- Use-of-force training
- De-escalation and conflict management
- Emergency response procedures
- Church and faith-based facility security
- Behavioral threat recognition
- Report writing and documentation
- Medical response, first aid, CPR, and AED
- Evacuation, lockdown, and emergency communication procedures
- Site-specific post orders
- Bee-Safe policies, conduct, appearance, and professionalism standards
Applicants must attend, actively participate in, and successfully complete all required training. Failure to maintain required licenses, certifications, qualifications, performance standards, or training requirements may result in removal from the assignment or termination of employment.

Employment Standards
Employment with Bee-Safe is performance-based. Continued employment and assignment eligibility depend upon satisfactory attendance, conduct, job performance, training completion, licensing eligibility, client requirements, and compliance with Bee-Safe policies and post orders.
Employment is at will, meaning either the employee or Bee-Safe may end the employment relationship at any time, with or without notice or cause, subject to applicable law.
