Who We Are
EnRUD Resources is an air emissions and environmental compliance firm serving industrial clients across the South Central United States. We provide stack testing, LDAR, optical gas imaging, and air compliance services to operators who need defensible data and a partner who understands what the rule actually requires.
Position Overview
The Stack Testing Field Supervisor owns the test in the field. You lead the crew, you sign off on the data, and you are the person facing the plant and the agency observer when a decision has to be made on the platform. This is the senior technical role on site — the work is equal parts crew leadership, method execution, and judgment under time pressure.
You will run source testing projects from pre-test planning through data reduction and report review, supervising a crew of two to four technicians and serving as EnRUD’s on-site representative to clients and regulatory personnel.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesPre-Test Planning
- Review site-specific test plans and protocols; confirm method selection, run counts, and duration against project objectives
- Verify sampling location adequacy, including traverse point determination and port configuration, before mobilization
- Confirm process operating conditions required for a representative test and resolve conflicts with facility personnel in advance
- Coordinate crew assignments, equipment allocation, and logistics with the Sr. Project Manager
- Support agency notification submittals and confirm required lead times are met
Field Operations & Crew Supervision
- Lead and supervise stack testing crews on site; assign roles, set the daily schedule, and manage the pace of the test
- Own all daily field safety aspects, including stack and platform access, fall protection, confined space, and site-specific requirements
- Train and mentor field technicians on test methods, equipment, and field procedures
- Direct equipment mobilization, staging, setup, and demobilization
Quality Assurance & Method Execution
- Supervise and verify all equipment calibrations — dry gas meter, pitot, thermocouple, nozzle, and analyzer calibration error, drift, and bias checks
- Execute and oversee pre-test and post-test leak checks and in-run QA criteria
- Maintain isokinetic rate, run duration, and other method acceptance criteria; call a run invalid when criteria are not met
- Ensure all work conducted under your supervision conforms to EnRUD’s quality management system
- Maintain chain of custody and direct sample recovery and shipment
Client & Agency Interface
- Serve as EnRUD’s in-field representative to client personnel and state and federal agency observers
- Communicate test status, deviations, and preliminary findings clearly and accurately
- Uphold the highest standards of data quality and ethics without exception
Data Reduction & Reporting
- Perform and review test calculations, including verification of spreadsheet output against hand calculations
- QA/QC field, laboratory, and calibration data prior to report preparation
- Draft and review technical test reports
- Prepare and review Electronic Reporting Tool (ERT) submittal packages and support CEDRI submittals within required post-test deadlines
- Submit field data, time sheets, and project expense reports on schedule
Minimum Requirements
Experience — 5 to 10 years of stack testing / source emissions testing experience, including demonstrated experience leading a field test crew. Candidates with a background in CEMS relative accuracy testing, instrumental analyzer methods, or industrial field services are strongly encouraged to apply.
Preferred Certification(s) — QSTI certification in Method Group 1 (Manual Gas Volume/Flow Measurements and Isokinetic Particulate Sampling), or documented qualification as a Qualified Individual under ASTM D7036. QSTI Group 3 (Gaseous Pollutants Instrumental Methods) strongly preferred. EnRUD sponsors examination fees and supports candidates in adding method groups.
Method Proficiency — Independent proficiency in EPA Reference Methods 1, 2, 3/3A, 4, and 5, plus instrumental methods 6C, 7E, 10, and 25A. Experience with any of the following is a differentiator: Methods 201A/202, 26/26A, 29, 30B, 18, 320, and Method 9 visible emissions certification.
Education — High school diploma or equivalent required. AS or BS in a science or engineering field preferred.
Additional Certifications — Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record and ability to pass a DOT physical required. OSHA 10/30, HAZWOPER 40-hour, TWIC, confined space, and first aid/CPR preferred; EnRUD will provide or sponsor where not held.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities — Sound mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills applied to sampling trains and analyzer systems under field conditions. Strong verbal and written communication with clients and regulators, with professional appearance and behavior. Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe products. Working knowledge of EPA’s Electronic Reporting Tool (ERT) and the CDX/CEDRI submittal process. Ability to lead a crew, hold a schedule, and make defensible calls independently.
Physical Requirements — Flexibility to work 40+ hour weeks, including some nights and weekends. Consistent standing and walking, bending, crouching or stooping, climbing ladders and stairs, and frequent lifting of objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Willingness to work at elevated heights on stack platforms, climbing stacks of varying heights (50 ft–300 ft), and to operate an aerial lift from the platform or deck. Ability to distinguish between shades of color. All required safety gear and PPE provided.
