We are seeking an experienced, board-certified physician to serve as Medical Director for our growing virtual care platform. This physician leader will provide clinical oversight for a multidisciplinary telemedicine practice focused on preventive medicine, metabolic health, diabetes prevention, chronic disease management, and evidence-based weight management.
The Medical Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining high standards of clinical quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and provider performance across the organization. Working collaboratively with executive leadership, advanced practice providers, and clinical operations, the Medical Director will help shape clinical strategy, develop evidence-based care pathways, oversee quality assurance initiatives, and ensure the consistent delivery of exceptional virtual patient care.
Our practice is supported by a proprietary, fully integrated technology platform featuring a custom electronic health record (EHR), automated clinical workflows, streamlined documentation, e-prescribing, laboratory integration, and secure patient communication tools designed to optimize both the provider and patient experience.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide physician leadership and clinical oversight for a multidisciplinary telemedicine practice.
- Supervise and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and other Advanced Practice Providers in accordance with applicable state regulations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain evidence-based clinical protocols, treatment pathways, and prescribing guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations governing telemedicine and medical practice.
- Promote a culture of clinical excellence, patient safety, quality improvement, and continuous professional development.
- Conduct periodic chart reviews, peer review activities, and clinical quality audits to support high standards of care.
- Provide consultation for complex clinical cases and support clinical decision-making across the provider team.
- Participate in credentialing, provider onboarding, and ongoing clinical education.
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic initiatives, clinical operations, workflow optimization, and the expansion of virtual care services.
- Evaluate and optimize the use of clinical technology, digital health solutions, and EHR workflows to improve quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
- Maintain current knowledge of evolving clinical guidelines, telemedicine regulations, and best practices in virtual care.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted medical license with eligibility to practice in California; additional state licenses are strongly preferred.
- Board Certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Obesity Medicine, or a related primary care specialty.
- Active DEA registration with unrestricted prescribing authority.
- Minimum of five years of post-residency clinical experience.
- Previous experience supervising Advanced Practice Providers and leading multidisciplinary clinical teams preferred.
- Experience in telemedicine, primary care, metabolic health, chronic disease management, preventive medicine, or obesity medicine is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based medicine, clinical quality, regulatory compliance, and patient-centered care.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and collaborative decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Multiple active state medical licenses.
- Experience with digital health platforms, virtual care delivery models, and clinical informatics.
- Experience developing clinical protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and provider education programs.
- Familiarity with value-based care, chronic care management, and population health principles.
