We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and hands-on Restaurant Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume, upscale dining environment. This leader will oversee daily restaurant operations, inspire and develop the team, and ensure every guest receives the elevated service that defines the Morimoto brand.
What You'll Do
As Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for the overall success of daily operations while maintaining the highest standards of hospitality, food quality, service, and team engagement.
Leadership & Operations
- Lead daily front-of-house restaurant operations while ensuring exceptional guest experiences.
- Maintain Morimoto brand standards, service expectations, and operational excellence.
- Coach, mentor, and develop managers and hourly team members through consistent feedback and performance management.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace culture focused on teamwork and accountability.
- Assist with staffing, scheduling, labor management, and succession planning.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, safety standards, and food handling procedures.
- Support opening and closing procedures and maintain operational readiness throughout each shift.
Guest Experience
- Build lasting relationships with guests through genuine hospitality and personalized service.
- Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently while exceeding expectations whenever possible.
- Promote a culture centered on hospitality, quality, and attention to detail.
- Maintain a visible presence on the restaurant floor during service.
Financial & Business Performance
- Assist in achieving sales, profitability, and operational goals.
- Monitor labor, food, beverage, and operating costs.
- Understand and utilize budgeting, forecasting, and profit & loss reporting to drive business performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency while maintaining exceptional service standards.
Team Development
- Recruit, interview, onboard, and train new team members.
- Conduct coaching conversations and performance evaluations.
- Promote employee engagement, recognition, and career development.
- Lead by example and create an environment where employees feel valued and supported.
Communication
- Partner closely with the General Manager, Executive Chef, and Corporate Operations team.
- Communicate operational challenges and opportunities promptly.
- Support special events, wine dinners, and restaurant initiatives.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of restaurant management experience in a high-volume upscale or fine dining restaurant.
- Hospitality, Restaurant Management, or related education preferred, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong understanding of restaurant operations, scheduling, staffing, labor management, inventory, and cost controls.
- Working knowledge of budgeting and profit & loss statements.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop high-performing teams.
- Outstanding guest service, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in upscale Japanese dining or luxury hospitality.
- Knowledge of Japanese cuisine, ingredients, sake, and wine.
- Wine knowledge, particularly Napa Valley wines, is a plus.
- Passion for hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy restaurant environment.
- Ability to bend, reach, climb, and move throughout the restaurant as needed.
