Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, tracking changes in condition, and reporting findings to healthcare professionals promptly
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs and preferences
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning tasks, laundry assistance, and ensuring infection control protocols are followed
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents or clients, fostering a positive environment that promotes mental well-being
- Assist with transportation needs for appointments or community outings using personal transportation assistance or resident transport equipment
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to observe patients’ conditions closely and respond appropriately to changes or emergencies such as first aid or CPR situations
- Experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, intellectual disabilities, dementia (including Alzheimer’s care), or memory care is advantageous
- Knowledge of care plans, medication administration procedures, patient monitoring techniques, and HIPAA compliance is essential
- Familiarity with patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts and patient personal care assistance enhances your effectiveness in this role
- Previous caregiving experience supporting seniors or individuals with disabilities helps ensure compassionate and competent care delivery
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely and perform manual handling tasks required for patient transfers or mobility support
