Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and dignity
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical records standards
- Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or memory impairments through compassionate engagement and behavioral health techniques
- Operate medical equipment such as Hoyer lifts and perform basic aseptic techniques during procedures like catheter care or wound management
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care environments including ICU, emergency medicine, or long-term care facilities to deliver seamless patient care
- Maintain a safe environment by practicing proper manual handling, heavy lifting techniques, and adhering to safe lifting practices during patient transfers
Skills
- Proven experience working with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems) such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation
- Demonstrated ability to provide specialized care in diverse settings including hospital medicine, hospice, outpatient clinics, or assisted living communities
- Strong knowledge of physiology, medical terminology, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques essential for safe patient care
- Experience caring for geriatric patients or those with complex needs such as behavioral health or sub-acute conditions
- Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately while demonstrating excellent patient service skills and empathy
- Familiarity with advanced caregiving equipment like Hoyer lifts and understanding of safe manual handling practices
- Certification in CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) along with knowledge of HIPAA regulations for protecting patient privacy
