Transportation Accounting Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Accounting Specialist to support our accounting operations in a fast-paced logistics environment. This role requires hands-on experience with AP, AR, billing, and collections, along with the ability to work cross-functionally with operations to ensure accurate and timely financial data.
The ideal candidate understands transportation workflows and can connect accounting activity to real-world operations such as dispatch, driver pay, and load-based billing.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions
- Process and review customer billing and invoicing for accuracy and completeness
- Perform cash application, including ACH, wires, and check payments
- Handle collections efforts, including follow-up on past due accounts
- Research and resolve billing discrepancies, disputes, and short payments
- Assist with bank and account reconciliations
- Support month-end close, including journal entries and accruals
- Partner with internal teams (billing, dispatch, operations) to ensure accurate data flow
- Maintain proper documentation to support audit and internal controls
Preferred Experience (Strongly Desired)
- Transportation, trucking, or logistics industry experience
- Experience with:
- NetSuite
- Salesforce
- Comdata
- Familiarity with driver pay, fuel cards, and load-based billing
- Experience in high-volume transactional environments
Qualifications
- 3+ years of accounting experience (AP, AR, billing, or collections)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills
- Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP preferred)

Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
