Part-Time Bankruptcy Attorney - Firas Law, LLC | Frankfort, Illinois (Hybrid Available)
Firas Law, LLC is seeking a motivated and experienced Part-Time Bankruptcy Attorney to assist with a growing consumer bankruptcy practice.
This position is ideal for an attorney seeking flexible hours, supplemental income, or a reduced schedule while maintaining meaningful client interaction and courtroom experience.
Responsibilities
- Handle Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy matters from intake through discharge.
- Review petitions, schedules, statements, and proposed Chapter 13 plans.
- Attend §341 meetings, motion hearings, confirmation hearings, and other bankruptcy court appearances.
- Draft motions, objections, responses, reaffirmation agreements, and related pleadings.
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda as needed.
- Communicate directly with clients, trustees, and opposing counsel.
- Assist with adversary proceedings and contested matters when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with local bankruptcy rules and deadlines.
Qualifications
- Active Illinois law license and good standing.
- Minimum 2 years of bankruptcy experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Chapters 7 and 13.
- Experience with CM/ECF filing system.
- Strong writing, organizational, and client communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Compensation
- Flexible compensation structure:
- Hourly rate; or
- Per-case compensation; or
- Hybrid arrangement.
Compensation will be based on experience and level of responsibility.
Schedule
- Part-time (10–25 hours per week)
- Flexible schedule
- Hybrid/remote options available
- Court appearances primarily in the Northern District of Illinois
