Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities. This position involves providing compassionate support and assistance to clients in various settings, including residential homes, nursing facilities, and community environments. The DSP is dedicated to fostering independence and promoting personal growth through daily activities and social engagement.
Duties
- Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Provide support in social interactions and community participation to enhance social skills and confidence.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each client's unique needs and preferences.
- Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and any changes in condition.
- Facilitate recreational activities that promote physical health and emotional well-being.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive care.
- Provide compassionate care for individuals with dementia or those requiring hospice care as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in nursing homes or similar healthcare settings is a plus.
- Ability to prepare meals that meet dietary needs while promoting healthy eating habits.
- Certification in CPR is beneficial for ensuring client safety during emergencies.
- Physical ability to lift clients as necessary and assist them with mobility challenges.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
