Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) Technician to join our team. Duties
- Install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, ventilation systems, and refrigeration equipment such as ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and building automation system (BAS) controls to diagnose issues accurately.
- Perform electrical diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems within HVAC/R equipment using tools like ohmmeters and multimeters.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance on mechanical systems to ensure peak performance and energy efficiency.
- Repair or replace mechanical components such as compressors, fans, motors, valves, pumps, and piping; perform welding and other fabrication tasks as needed.
- Diagnose complex issues related to HVAC system repair or installation by utilizing mechanical knowledge and field service experience.
- Collaborate with property maintenance teams or clients to ensure HVAC/R systems meet safety codes, EPA standards (including refrigerant handling), and operational requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven construction experience with a strong background in mechanical systems repair and HVAC system installation.
- Service technician experience with hands-on work in HVAC/R environments; familiarity with building automation systems is highly desirable.
- Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams accurately.
- Mechanical knowledge of HVAC design principles, plumbing systems, electrical diagnostics, and refrigeration technology.
- Proficiency with hand tools, welding equipment, ohmmeters, and other diagnostic instruments.
- Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus; valid EPA certification required for refrigerant handling.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members.
- Valid driver’s license (preferably <PERSON> driver or equivalent) for field service travel; clean driving record preferred.
- Additional qualifications include property maintenance experience, appliance repair skills, boiler operation knowledge, electrical system troubleshooting abilities, and mechanic experience in mechanical systems repair.
