Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper manual handling techniques and equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, ensuring timely communication of patient status changes to nursing staff.
- Support medication administration under supervision, adhering strictly to HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards.
- Maintain a safe environment by following aseptic techniques, infection control protocols, and safe lifting practices during patient transfers.
- Document all care provided in electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring completeness and confidentiality of medical records.
- Respond promptly to patient needs and emergencies with calm professionalism, including performing basic life support (BLS) when necessary.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans, especially for those with complex conditions such as dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or behavioral health issues.
Requirements
- Valid CNA certification with current licensure in the applicable state.
- Experience working with geriatric patients or in long-term care facilities is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner is advantageous; proficiency in medical terminology is essential.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, including aseptic technique and safe manual handling procedures.
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours while maintaining high standards of patient service and safety.
- Strong communication skills for effective caregiver-patient interactions and team collaboration.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with patient transfers safely.
