Responsibilities
- Assess client needs and provide tailored loan options by analyzing financial information and credit reports
- Facilitate the loan origination process using Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and other financial software tools
- Conduct thorough credit analysis, underwriting, and risk assessments in compliance with FNMA (Fannie Mae) guidelines and Fair Housing regulations
- Negotiate terms with clients, ensuring mutual understanding and satisfaction while maintaining compliance with TILA (Truth in Lending Act) and other loan regulations
- Manage mortgage servicing activities, including escrow management and mortgage contract processing
- Build strong relationships with clients through effective communication, ensuring clarity on loan terms and application status
- Stay updated on industry knowledge of financial regulations, banking compliance standards, and mortgage lending best practices
Experience
- Proven experience as a Loan Officer or in a similar financial sales role within retail or commercial lending environments
- Strong understanding of the lending processes, including loan processing, underwriting, and industry-specific software such as Loan Origination Systems (LOS) and accounting software
- Excellent negotiation skills combined with customer service expertise to foster trust and long-term client relationships
- Knowledge of Fair Housing laws, TILA regulations, FNMA guidelines, and banking regulatory compliance standards
- Ability to perform basic math accurately for credit analysis and financial calculations
- Experience with credit analysis, risk assessment in commercial lending, and familiarity with mortgage services is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, underwriters, and regulatory bodies while maintaining high levels of professionalism
