Emerald Technologies is seeking a Test Technician to join our Brea, CA team. In this role, you will set up and operate automated test equipment to evaluate printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) using detailed work instructions and established procedures. You will assist in developing documentation for test processes and support continuous improvement across the testing workflow. This position also plays a key role in troubleshooting failed boards, helping restore units to working order through basic component‑level analysis.

Responsibilities of the Test Technician:

Perform automated PCBA testing by setting up and running automated test equipment such as Flying Probe, ICT, and FCT systems using work instructions and proprietary test programs.

Execute multi‑step test procedures by following detailed, multi‑step processes to verify overall product functionality.

Evaluate pass/fail results by testing products, determining whether they meet all required test steps, and separating good units from defective ones.

Troubleshoot failed boards by assisting in diagnosing and resolving failures down to the component level.

Maintain accurate records by compiling, documenting, and storing test results in accordance with company requirements.

Perform basic equipment maintenance by conducting simple maintenance on test equipment, fixtures, and tooling while keeping the work area clean and organized.

Support production and RMA testing by performing testing on both production units and returned goods.

Qualifications of the Test Technician:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent to meet the minimum educational requirement for the role.

At least one year of electronic testing experience to ensure familiarity with PCBA testing environments.

Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and verbal form at a general business level.

Must demonstrate basic proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel to complete documentation and recordkeeping tasks.

Basic knowledge of electronic test tools such as digital multimeters and power supplies.

Ability to determine the pass/fail status of PCB assemblies based on established test criteria.

Must be able to read and interpret technical documents including work instructions, manuals, and safety guidelines.
