Position Summary
The Outbound Ground Shipping Supervisor is a working floor leader responsible for daily ground outbound operations. This role ensures orders are picked, packed, and shipped accurately and on time while driving productivity, monitoring compliance, and maintaining team engagement.
This position focuses on execution and leadership presence on the floor, while also handling light administrative responsibilities such as monitoring timecards and reviewing PTO requests.
The Supervisor sets the tone for performance, urgency, and accountability in the outbound department.
Operational Execution
- Oversee ground outbound operations from start of shift through carrier cutoff
- Assign labor based on volume, priorities, and staffing levels
- Monitor workflow to eliminate bottlenecks
- Ensure all orders meet carrier pickup deadlines
- Maintain accuracy in picking, packing, labeling, and staging
- Performs other duties as assigned
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop Outbound shipping team members
- Assign daily work, set priorities, and monitor execution
- Provide real-time coaching on productivity, quality, and compliance
- Identify performance gaps and document concerns for escalation as needed
- Train team members on SOPs, safety, and compliance requirements
- Regularly communicates and models company Values and policies
Performance & Accountability
- Drive results across key KPIs:
- On-time specialty shipments
- Quality and accuracy
- Productivity
- Investigate misses, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Partner with Operations Manager on continuous improvement initiatives
Time & Attendance Administration
- Monitor timecards for assigned team members
- Review and verify time punches
- Track attendance patterns and report concerns
- Review and approve PTO requests within guidelines
- Communicate staffing impacts to Operations Manager/Leaders
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- On-time shipment % (≥ 95%)
- Order accuracy % (≥ 99.5%)
- Safety incident rate (goal: zero recordables)
- Labor productivity (Scans/Labor Hour)

- Picking and Packing team members
- Supervises a team of 15+ warehouse associates and including scheduling, training, coaching, and mentoring staff to ensure they understand their responsibilities and perform their duties effectively.
Working Conditions
- Warehouse environment with varying temperatures, noise, and other standard conditions.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and frequent lifting throughout the shift.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on business needs.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience in warehouse or distribution operations
- High School Diploma/GED required.
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to lead from the floor and hold team members accountable
- Comfortable working in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
- Proficient with WMS, shipping systems, and basic reporting tools
- Leads with accountability and a solutions mindset
- Sets clear expectations and follows through
- Models safety, quality, and performance standards
- Focuses on results, not excuses
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment
- Lift up to 75 lbs as required
- Stand, walk, and work on the floor for extended periods
- Safety training or leadership training (preferred)
