Position Summary
Texpac Hide & Skin is seeking a Logistics Manager to oversee the daily operations of the company's transportation fleet and driver workforce. This position is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of raw materials and finished products while maintaining compliance with DOT regulations and company standards.
The Logistics Manager will supervise drivers, coordinate dispatch activities, monitor fleet performance, and work closely with operations and customers to ensure on-time deliveries and exceptional service.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesFleet Management
- Manage the daily operations of the company truck fleet.
- Coordinate and schedule pickups, deliveries, and transportation routes.
- Monitor vehicle utilization, fuel consumption, maintenance schedules, and operating costs.
- Ensure fleet equipment is properly maintained and available to meet operational demands.
- Work with maintenance vendors and internal teams to minimize vehicle downtime.
Driver Management
- Supervise, coach, and support company drivers.
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and retaining qualified CDL drivers.
- Conduct driver performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
- Manage driver schedules, assignments, time-off requests, and coverage needs.
- Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with all DOT, FMCSA, and company safety regulations.
- Maintain driver qualification files, logs, permits, and transportation records.
- Monitor Hours of Service (HOS) compliance and electronic logging systems.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and safety violations and implement corrective actions.
- Lead safety meetings and driver training programs.
Dispatch & Customer Service
- Coordinate transportation schedules to meet customer delivery requirements.
- Communicate with customers, drivers, and operations personnel regarding shipment status and scheduling.
- Resolve transportation issues, delays, and service concerns promptly.
- Optimize routes and load planning to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Operational Performance
- Track and analyze transportation metrics including on-time delivery, fuel usage, driver productivity, and equipment utilization.
- Develop strategies to improve fleet efficiency and reduce operating expenses.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for senior management.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout transportation operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of transportation, fleet, dispatch, or logistics management experience.
- Previous experience managing CDL drivers and transportation operations required.
- Strong knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, and transportation compliance regulations.
- Experience with fleet management software, GPS tracking systems, and electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in agricultural, manufacturing, rendering, hide and skin, or industrial transportation operations.
- CDL license or transportation certifications are a plus.
- Experience managing private fleets and owner-operators.

Pay: From $80,000.00 per year
