Estimator / Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction
Juarez Brothers General Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Manager to join our growing heavy civil construction team.
This position is primarily focused on estimating public works and heavy civil projects, while also providing project management and field support. The ideal candidate has experience with public works bidding, civil construction, earthwork, underground utilities, concrete, paving, and related scopes.
Workload Breakdown
- 70% – Estimating
- 20% – Project Management Support
- 10% – Field Support / RFIs / Foreman Coordination
Estimating – 70%
- Prepare detailed estimates for public works and heavy civil construction projects.
- Review plans, specifications, bid documents, addenda, and project requirements.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop complete bid packages.
- Develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and production costs.
- Solicit, analyze, and incorporate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Identify scope gaps, project risks, and potential cost impacts.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and job walks as required.
- Develop competitive and profitable bid strategies.
- Assist ownership with bid review and final pricing decisions.
Project Management Support – 20%
- Assist with project setup, budgets, schedules, and cost tracking.
- Coordinate with foremen, subcontractors, suppliers, and project owners.
- Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation.
- Review project costs and assist with billing and project closeout.
- Help ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
Field Support – 10%
- Respond to questions and RFIs from foremen and field personnel.
- Review plans and specifications to provide field clarification.
- Assist with constructability and scope-related issues.
- Coordinate between the office and field to resolve issues efficiently.
- Visit project sites as necessary.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of relevant heavy civil construction experience preferred.
- Experience estimating public works/municipal projects.
- Strong ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Knowledge of labor, equipment, materials, subcontractor pricing, and production rates.
- Experience with earthwork, underground utilities, concrete, asphalt/paving, and related civil scopes.
- Experience with estimating and construction software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $95,000–$115,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
