Mechanical Engineer
Position Summary
MARTAC is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing next-generation, high performance Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs). This is a hands-on, mechanical design role focused on machinery integration, structures, fluid systems, and system-level mechanical layout.
Responsibilities
· Design and integration of various mechanical systems and structures for autonomous surface vessel platforms, including:
o System layout and machinery arrangement
o Design of composite structural elements and supports
o Selection and integration of various sub-system components
o Fluid system layout/piping and component selection
o Integration and mounting of various external payloads and sensors
o Electronics rack mounting and electrical component mounting
· Develop detailed 3D CAD models and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks
· Create accurate BOM’s, detailed assembly drawings, and work instructions
· Directly support production teams by resolving engineering questions and providing technical guidance during vessel construction
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related discipline
· 3-10 years of relevant engineering experience
· Marine industry experience and/or knowledge of boat systems and construction methods
· Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
· Experience creating engineering drawings and build documentation
· U.S. citizenship
· Must be able to pass the background check and drug test
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with boat/yacht machinery arrangements, fluid system layout/piping, etc.
· Knowledge of maritime and boat construction standards (ABYC, DNV, etc)
· Experience with composite structural design and lamination schedule development
· Familiarity with mechanical aspects of wire harness routing, connector selection and electrical enclosure design
· Experience with unmanned vessels or marine robotics
· Ability to perform structural analysis using FEA software tools
· Basic knowledge of planing hull hydrodynamics and use of CFD software tools

Pay: From $110,000.00 per year
