Program Description:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program prepares students with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills needed to provide safe, compassionate, and respectful care to patients. Students learn basic nursing skills, personal care, infection prevention, communication, safety procedures, and other responsibilities expected of a CNA.
Patient care and personal hygiene
Bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting
Feeding and assisting with meals
Measuring and recording vital signs
Safe patient transfers and positioning
Infection control and prevention
CPR and basic emergency procedures, when included in the program
Patient rights and confidentiality
Communication and professional behavior
Dementia and elderly care
Proper documentation and reporting
Workplace safety and professionalism
Meet the minimum age and education requirements established by the state/program.
Complete the required classroom and hands-on training hours.
Successfully demonstrate required CNA skills.
Complete clinical training.
Meet applicable state requirements to qualify for the CNA competency examination.
After successfully completing the program and meeting state certification requirements, graduates may pursue employment as a CNA in healthcare.
A successful CNA student should be compassionate, dependable, patient, respectful, hardworking, and comfortable working with people who need assistance with daily activities.
