Job Summary
The Wellness Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of resident care services in an assisted living facility, ensuring high-quality, compassionate care while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations. This role provides clinical leadership, supervises care staff, and ensures that individualized care plans are developed and implemented effectively.
In addition, the Wellness Director leads staff onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training to ensure team members are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver exceptional resident-centered care. The ideal candidate is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with demonstrated leadership experience and a passion for developing teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Oversight
- Oversee the delivery of resident care services to ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance
- Conduct resident assessments and develop, implement, and update individualized service plans
- Monitor resident health status and coordinate care with physicians, families, and outside providers
- Ensure proper medication management and documentation standards are maintained
- Respond to clinical issues, incidents, and emergencies as needed
Leadership & Staff Management
- Supervise and support caregiving and medication aide staff
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management to direct reports
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels and assist with scheduling as needed
- Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment
Onboarding & Training
- Lead orientation and onboarding for new clinical and care staff
- Develop and deliver ongoing training programs to ensure competency and compliance
- Maintain training records and ensure staff certifications remain current
- Identify skill gaps and implement targeted development plans
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with state regulations, company policies, and industry standards
- Participate in surveys, audits, and inspections
- Implement quality improvement initiatives and monitor outcomes
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting
Resident & Family Engagement
- Build strong relationships with residents and families
- Address concerns and provide timely communication regarding care needs
- Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current, active LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) license in good standing
- 2+ years of clinical experience, preferably in assisted living, long-term care, or senior living
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Experience with staff training, onboarding, or education preferred
- Strong knowledge of senior care regulations and best practices
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a charge nurse, team lead, or similar leadership role
- Demonstrated success in training and developing staff
- Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation systems
Work Environment
- Assisted living community setting
- Requires flexibility to respond to resident and staff needs, including occasional evenings or weekends
- On -call duties
