Duties
- Safely operate lowboy tractor-trailers on regional routes, including over-the-road (OTR) driving routes across varied terrains
- Load and unload freight with manual handling techniques, ensuring proper load securement in compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations
- Transport specialized cargo such as heavy equipment, machinery, or hazardous materials (Hazmat), following all hazardous materials regulations and dangerous goods protocols
- Use GPS navigation systems to plan optimal routes, monitor traffic conditions, and ensure timely deliveries
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in accordance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractor-trailers to identify maintenance needs or safety issues
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route adjustments, delivery schedules, or unforeseen delays
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record and endorsements for Hazmat and tanker loads preferred
- Proven experience operating lowboy trailers or similar heavy-duty equipment transportation vehicles
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, hazardous materials regulations, and safety standards for truck driving
- Experience with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers or automobile transportation is a plus
- Ability to handle manual transmission trucks and perform manual handling tasks safely during load & unload operations
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for route planning and real-time traffic updates
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, route efficiency, and customer service excellence
