Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers with flatbed configurations across assigned routes, including OTR driving routes, ensuring compliance with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques and proper truck loading and unloading procedures, ensuring cargo is secured correctly for transport.
- Navigate efficiently using GPS navigation systems to optimize delivery routes and meet delivery schedules.
- Transport various types of freight such as freight, hazardous materials (hazmat), dangerous goods, refrigerated trailers, tankers, and automobile transportation loads.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety standards are met; report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo documentation, delivery records, and incident reports in compliance with FMCSA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery status, or any unforeseen issues during transit.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) Class A license.
- Prior experience operating flatbed trucks or tractor-trailers in logistics cargo handling environments.
- Familiarity with route driving and delivery driving across diverse terrains and conditions.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (hazmat) and dangerous goods handling is highly desirable.
- Experience with truck loading and unloading processes, including manual handling techniques for heavy or awkward cargo.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) safety standards applicable to commercial trucking operations.
- Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and safely during long-haul trips or local deliveries.
