College Hospital Costa Mesa is seeking a California-licensed Physician to provide medical services as an Independent Contractor in our acute behavioral health hospital. This opportunity is ideal for physicians seeking a flexible schedule while working as part of an experienced interdisciplinary team dedicated to providing exceptional care for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric illness.
As an independent contractor, you will provide medical evaluation and management for hospitalized behavioral health patients, collaborating with psychiatrists, nursing staff, therapists, and case management to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
College Hospital Costa Mesa is an acute care behavioral health facility serving Orange County, California. Our hospital provides inpatient psychiatric services for adolescents, adults, and older adults in a safe, therapeutic environment focused on stabilization, recovery, and continuity of care.
- Conduct admission medical evaluations and ongoing medical assessments.
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions affecting hospitalized behavioral health patients.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Respond to medical consultations and changes in patient condition.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant medical documentation.
- Participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary meetings as appropriate.
- Support compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, and hospital quality standards.

Qualifications
Required
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school.
- Current, unrestricted California Physician Surgeon License.
- Current DEA registration with authorization to prescribe controlled substances.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Psychiatry, or another relevant specialty.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Eligible for medical staff appointment and clinical privileges at College Hospital Costa Mesa.
- Ability to meet all federal, state, hospital, and accreditation requirements, including credentialing and privileging.
- Strong clinical judgment and effective communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with psychiatrists, nursing staff, therapists, case managers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
- BLS/ACLS
Preferred
- Previous experience in an acute care hospital, inpatient behavioral health, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine setting.
- Experience caring for patients with co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EMR).
- Knowledge of accreditation standards, CMS Conditions of Participation, and California Department of Public Health regulations applicable to acute care hospitals.

Pay: $190,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
