Job Title: Job Coach
Pay: $21.00 per hour - $22.00 per hour
Program: Day Habilitation Without Walls
Reports To: Vocational Manager
General Summary:
The individualized support job coaches provide are integral to the job retention of the participants in our program. Job Coaches must be reliable and punctual; in order for the people we support to be successful in their jobs. Applicants must be energetic, responsible, and creative. The Job Coach must be proactive, seeking out ways for a person to grow on the job and by identifying issues before they jeopardize a person's employment. The Job Coach will be responsible for communicating such information with their supervisors so that the team can work together to ensure the success of the people we support.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Encourage participants to learn new skills to grow at their jobs
- Work with employers to guarantee their satisfaction with employment services
- Maintain communication with one's supervisor to ensure that information is shared in order to ensure the success of the people we support
- Submit documentation of all services provided for the day and month for billing purposes by assigned deadlines
- Work with employer and individual to resolve any problems that may arise during work hours
- Assist in development and coordination of work experiences that respond to an individual’s vocational interests, preferences and abilities
- Evaluate the potential work sites to gain information regarding the social requirements, work schedule, core tasks, safety procedures and environmental cues necessary for individual to be successful at site
- Train individuals in core tasks. Develop, create and implement coaching strategies to expedite skill acquisition for those served, and maximize independence at all times
- Utilize natural supports at work location whenever possible and teach the utilization of these resources to the individual served
- Ensure the well-being and safety of all individuals served, including providing travel training skills to and from community-based work locations
- Teach job readiness and seeking skills
- Attend team meetings, professional development opportunities and parent conferences.
- Act as liaison in a professional manner at all times between the individual served, employer, and the agency
- Conduct all other job requirements requested
- Possess and understanding of employer expectations
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Experience in a vocational training setting preferred.
License/Certification:
Eleversity Training
Skills and Abilities Required:
· Good oral and written communication skills.
· Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality.
· Must be very flexible-schedules can change based on the individuals work schedule
· Must be available mornings/evenings/weekends & holidays if needed
· Travel between Brooklyn and Staten Island required
