Job Title: Pediatric Speech and Language Pathology Assistant
Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Pediatric Speech and Language Pathology Assistant to join our team. As a vital member of our team, you will work closely with licensed speech and language pathologists to provide comprehensive care to children with communication disorders, speech delays, and language impairments. Your role will involve assisting in evaluation, therapy sessions, and treatment planning to help pediatric patients achieve their communication and language development goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in Evaluation:
- Collaborate with licensed speech and language pathologists to conduct assessments and screenings of pediatric patients to identify communication disorders and speech delays.
- Assist with administering and scoring standardized tests and record observations to help in diagnosis.
Therapy and Treatment:
- Support licensed pathologists during therapy sessions by facilitating exercises and activities designed to improve speech and language skills.
- Implement treatment plans and interventions as prescribed by licensed professionals.
- Maintain a safe and engaging environment for pediatric patients during therapy sessions.
Data Collection and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of patient progress, therapy sessions, and evaluations.
- Document treatment activities, patient responses, and any observed changes in communication skills.
Family and Caregiver Education:
- Educate and provide guidance to parents and caregivers on home-based exercises and techniques to reinforce therapy progress.
- Offer information on communication strategies to enhance a child's development.
Equipment and Materials:
- Organize and maintain therapy materials and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
Professional Development:
- Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in pediatric speech and language pathology.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program or a related field.
- Certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A genuine interest in working with children.
- Compassion, patience, and the ability to establish rapport with pediatric patients and their families.
- Knowledge of basic therapy techniques and child development principles.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
