Radiological Technologist Position Overview: The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for operating radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images. This role involves preparing patients for procedures while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
Radiological Technologist Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an AMA-accredited School of Radiologic Technology is required.
- No prior experience is necessary.
Radiological Technologist Licensing and Certification:
- Requires New York State Department of Health Licensure as a Radiologic Technologist or a temporary permit pending examination.
Radiological Technologist Key Responsibilities:
- Establishes rapport with patients to understand and meet service requirements, reducing anxiety through explanations and support.
- Prepares patients for imaging by positioning them and adjusting equipment settings.
- Implements radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure for patients and staff.
- Maintains quality of radiographs by following established procedures and making necessary adjustments.
- Documents patient care and maintains accurate records of procedures.
- Conducts preventive maintenance on radiology equipment, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Manages inventory of radiology supplies and maintains a safe working environment.
- Engages in continuous professional development to meet regulatory requirements.
