Duties
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to ensure their comfort and dignity
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; report any concerns promptly to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Facilitate patient transfers using proper manual handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts to promote safety during mobility tasks
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring a hygienic environment
- Provide emotional support through active listening, engaging in conversation, and fostering a positive atmosphere for residents or clients
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor patient status accurately
- Familiarity with care plans, medication administration, vital signs measurement, and patient transfer methods
- Experience working with individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders is a plus
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred; ongoing training in HIPAA compliance is essential
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with manual handling tasks such as patient transfers using Hoyer lifts or other equipment
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork within multidisciplinary care settings
