Therapist – LPC, LCSW, LMFT or Resident in Counseling
Petra Counseling Services is growing, and we are looking for therapists to join our team in Newport News, Virginia.
We are a private counseling practice that works with children, teens, adults, couples, and families. While much of our work is trauma and attachment focused, we are looking for clinicians with a variety of interests and specialties.
More than anything, we want clinicians who care about doing good work, want to continue growing professionally, and value being part of a supportive team.
What We Offer
- Flexible scheduling – Part-time and full-time opportunities are available, with the ability to build a schedule that works for you and your clients.
- Clinical supervision for Residents in Counseling – Supervision is provided as part of employment for residents who meet caseload requirements.
- Training and professional development – We regularly provide opportunities for additional training, consultation, and continuing education.
- Administrative support – We handle billing, credentialing, office expenses, scheduling support, and other administrative responsibilities so clinicians can focus primarily on their clients.
- A supportive team – Private practice can sometimes feel isolating. We want Petra to be a place where clinicians can ask questions, consult with one another, learn, and feel supported in their work.
- Faith-based counseling is available – We provide Christian counseling for clients who specifically request it. Clinicians are not required to provide faith-based counseling.
Who We’re Looking For
We are currently hiring:
- Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC)
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW)
- Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT)
- Residents in Counseling
Experience with trauma and attachment is helpful, but it is not required. We are also interested in clinicians who bring other specialties, populations, and areas of interest to the practice.
We are looking for someone who is dependable, communicates well, completes documentation on time, practices ethically, and genuinely cares about the clients they serve.
What You’ll Do
Clinicians at Petra:
- Provide outpatient counseling to individuals, couples, families, and/or children and adolescents based on their areas of competency
- Complete assessments and develop individualized treatment plans
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Collaborate and consult with other clinicians when appropriate
- Participate in supervision, consultation, and professional development as applicable
About Petra
Petra Counseling Services was built around the belief that therapists do their best work when they are supported, trusted, and given opportunities to grow.
We care about providing excellent care to our clients, but we also care about creating a practice where clinicians enjoy working. We don't expect everyone on our team to practice the same way or have the same specialty. We want clinicians to develop their strengths and build a caseload that fits the kind of work they want to do.
If you're looking for a private practice where you can grow your caseload, continue developing as a clinician, and be part of a team without giving up flexibility, we'd love to talk with you.
