Part-Time 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) Math Tutor
Location: Prescott Valley Charter School – Prescott Valley, AZ
Job Type: Part-Time, Grant-Funded (School-Year Position)
Pay: $30.00 per hour
Work Schedule:
- Monday–Thursday: 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Friday: 7:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
- Approximately 16.5 hours per week during the school year
Position Summary
Prescott Valley Charter School is seeking a knowledgeable, engaging, and student-centered Part-Time Math Tutor to support students participating in our federally funded 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) program. This position provides high-quality mathematics instruction, intervention, and tutoring to students in kindergarten through eighth grade (K–8) during our after-school and Friday academic enrichment program.
The ideal candidate has a strong mathematics background, understands effective instructional practices, and is committed to helping students build confidence, improve academic achievement, and develop problem-solving skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality math tutoring and intervention to individual students and small groups in grades K–8.
- Assess student understanding and tailor instruction to meet individual learning needs.
- Reinforce classroom instruction while helping students master grade-level mathematics standards and foundational math skills.
- Support homework completion and provide targeted intervention to close learning gaps.
- Use engaging, hands-on instructional strategies to improve student understanding and confidence in mathematics.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying ability levels.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and program staff to support student learning goals.
- Monitor student progress and maintain required program documentation.
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and academically focused learning environment.
- Build positive relationships with students while promoting perseverance, critical thinking, and a growth mindset.
- Maintain confidentiality of student information.
- Follow all school policies, grant requirements, and student safety procedures.
- Participate in required staff meetings and professional development.
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of the 21st CCLC program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Strong knowledge of elementary and middle school mathematics.
- Previous experience teaching, tutoring, or providing math intervention to K–8 students preferred.
- Ability to effectively teach mathematical concepts using a variety of instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable attendance and professionalism.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Preferred Qualifications
- Arizona teaching certificate preferred.
- Current or former elementary or middle school teacher, math interventionist, instructional coach, or math specialist.
- Experience using assessment data to guide instruction and monitor student growth.
- Experience working with diverse learners, including students performing below grade level.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, and move throughout classrooms, using stairs, walking up/down hills, and safely using crosswalks with children
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Supervise students in classrooms and other instructional settings.
