Position Title: Summer Floater

Organization: United Community Centers

Organization History:
Founded in 1909, United Community Centers is one of Fort Worth’s oldest continuously operating
nonprofits. Guided by Christian principles, its mission is to serve and empower those in need through
programs designed to improve the lives of children and families. Through three centers, UCC
provides an Educational Literacy Program offering year-round after-school and summer learning for
children in underserved neighborhoods, as well as a Client Assistance and Advocacy Program that
provides information and referrals, emergency food and clothing, and adult basic education.

Position Overview:
The Floater supports daily operations across United Community Centers’ programs by helping
maintain a warm, nurturing, and safe environment where children feel valued and respected. Working
under the direction of the Center Director or Assistant Center Director, the Floater assists with
program coverage, helps ensure the safety and well-being of students, and supports staff in meeting
program needs across centers when required. This role works collaboratively with staff, families,
volunteers, and community partners to provide positive experiences for children and youth while
upholding UCC policies and standards.

Job Responsibilities/Duties

Promote the goal of United Community Centers' objective for Summer Literacy which is to

ensure that students maintain or increase their reading level proficiency during nine weeks
of programming

Support teachers and staff in monitoring students during breakfast, lunch, and dismissal
Assist teachers in providing the materials they might need or with specific centers
Support the implementation of daily schedules and activities under the guidance of the Center

Director, helping set up, monitor, and assist with youth engagement.

Assist with answering phones and ensuring a warm and welcoming environment
Assist with Client Assistance program as needed (food and clothing pantry)

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required
Must have a valid Texas Driver’s license; maintain current liability insurance, and a good driving

record

Must pass a background check (local, state, and federal level)
Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
Experience working in children’s programs and/or social service preferred

Interrelationships: Program Director, Literacy Specialists, UCC Administration, other UCC Staff

and parents
